MED has a long-standing tradition to train final year students for “Mine Safety and Rescue (MSR)”. Students of MED are trained for MSR by the Inspectorate of Mines, Punjab. MSR training consists of four-five days tour to the central rescue station of Inspectorate of Mines, Punjab. Central rescue station is situated in Khushab, Punjab. During this camp students are being trained to handling/conduct rescue operations in mines. MSR training session consists of several lectures by industry professional, rescue station staff, mine rescue team members. MSR training also include hands-on training to several apparatuses that are used during rescue operations in mines. In addition to safety camp, the MED takes pride for training its final years students for first aid. First-aid training is conducted by UET medical officers. Students who pass both written and practical exams are provided with first-aid training certificates.
